Edible Flours

Tasty vegan treats from Edible Flours
Walking into Edible Flours made me feel like a kid again. Vegans can appreciate the rare feeling you get when you go to a restaurant where you are able to eat whatever you want – the choice is almost overwhelming! We quickly found a way around that feeling… Giddy with excitement, we only needed to exchange eye contact to agree that one of each item would do (well, almost one of each). Our excuse is that we did it for you guys and this blog; ever your humble vegan-dessert seekers, we wanted to be able to provide you with the best feedback possible, and that only comes from first-hand experience. You are most welcome.

Our eyes round as dinner plates, we quickly sat down with our boxes of cupcakes, muffins, cinnamon buns and doughnuts at one of the quaint tables in the shop and opened the first box…I swear somewhere an angel was singing. The cupcakes were just the right consistency-moist and fluffy, and the icing was just right-not too sweet but full of flavor. My favorite cupcake was the raspberry, and the chocolate was a very close second. I was also overjoyed that they had cinnamon buns, and these buns did not disappoint. They were tasty and gooey-as a good cinnamon bun should be! Next came the muffins which would brighten even the crankiest morning-person’s breakfast! I especially enjoyed the Blueberry Nutmeg muffin. Finally, with our pants now uncomfortably tighter around the waist, we were on to the doughnuts. These doughnuts put every other doughnut I have ever had, to shame. I mean, they had fresh fruit on them! No thank you Timmy-ho’s!

One of the many great things about Edible Flours is that everything in the store could appeal to Vegans and non-vegans alike! Furthermore, the steps that they take at EF to serve people with a variety of dietary restrictions is truly formidable. Just check out their website and you will be able to see which products are soy free, wheat free, gluten free, and sugar free. They also serve tea and coffee, making Edible Flours a perfect spot to meet friends or go on a hot vegan date!

We give Edible Flours a 5 “ate-too-much-cup cakes-now-I’m-sleepy” cat faces out of 5 for being friendly, delicious, well priced and adorable. Their washroom was also cool.

  1. would love to have a store like that near by my place.

  2. Believe it or not, there’s actually another Vancouver based vegan bakery store called Fairy Cakes. They specialize in cup cakes!
